Backing Up Your Favorites/Bookmarks

If you're like me, over time you've probably accumulated a fair amount of favorites or bookmarks in your browser, and no doubt, they took you a lot of time to create. Having just experienced a hard drive crash on my laptop, I realized how nice it was to have a back up of my favorites that I could restore on to my "fresh" hard drive - which helped me get back in business that much faster.

Here's how to do it:
Open your browser (I use Internet Explorer, but even if you use a different browser the process should be quite similar).

Click File >>Import and Export>>Next
Select Export Favorites. Click Next
Make sure "Favorites" is highlighted and click Next.
Under "Import from a File or Address", click Browse and then choose your own destination file
(I have a folder called "Backups" on my hard drive used especiialy for this purpose).
Click Next. Select Favorites. Click Next and then, Finish.

That's all there is to it! Now burn that file to a CD for safe keeping. Should you experience a hard drive crash or just want to transfer those favorites to another machine, you can "Import Favorites" just liked you export your favorites above - by browsing to the backed up file on the CD and following the prompts.
